How do you think the supreme court came to the 8-1 decision that supports Phelps' right to free speech?

I think that what Rev. Phelps did was completely uncalled for and outrageously innapropriate. This protest would be an issue anywhere, but at an soldier's funeral is beyond horrifying. This man gave his life to protect this country and the people living in it. The very least that a man like Rev. Phelps can possibly do is give the man and his family the respect, privacy, and honor that he deserves. In my opinion, a man like Phelps should have absolutely no right to do something as disrespectful to our nation, and the men serving in our nation's army as this.
ReplyDeletePhelps is an idiot. I don't care that he feels that people who serve in wars are going to hell he should at least have respect this guy for protecting his rights. If it weren't for soldiers fighting overseas he wouldn't even be able to protest at funereals or protest in general. I think he's a very ignorant man who has no respect for anything. I think he's uneducated and should have more respect. However he does have freedom of speech and that right shouldn't be taken away form him.

I would have to agree with Chris Hansen, I, myself, do not agree with what the preacher is preaching and that he, although is supposedly not breaking any laws and has this ability due to his rights, is certinly being rash and inconsiderate to the families of the fallen soldiers at their funerals, especially due to the fact that this is a very strenuous and stressful time for the families because they are mourning a dear member of their family and that it would be more prudent to pick a more suitable venue for their protests, for instance, maybe a location out of earshot of the certain place of worship or gathering where the funeral occurs.
